A competitive session which merits highly ranked presentations as “Best Paper of 46th National conference of Indian Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists, DERMACON 2018”. Limited entry, so submit your work soon as abstract submission is open.

General instructions for Abstract Submission - Award Paper

  1. Abstract submission for award paper will be open from 1st March 2017  till  31th August 2017 ( 17:00 IST). Please note that after 31th August 2017 you will no longer be able to upload abstract for award paper.
  2. Abstract submission for award paper is open for post graduate residents only.
  3. All abstracts must be submitted in English. A “blind” selection process will be used. No identifying features such as names of hospitals, medical colleges, clinics or places may be listed in the title or text of the abstract. Do not include the names of authors either. Their names and affiliations (institutions) will be registered separately when submitting the abstract online.
  4. Abstracts are invited in one category only - clinical studies/original research work done by the presenter and coauthors.
  5. No late submissions will be accepted.
  6. The title should be as brief as possible but long enough to clearly indicate the nature of the study. Abbreviations must not be used in the title. The title should be written entirely in capital letters.
  7. The size of the abstract is limited to 300 words (this includes title, body of abstract, spaces, tables and graphics and pictures)
  8. Structure your abstract using the following subheadings:

    Clinical Study

    •  Introduction & Objectives: A sentence describing the purpose of the study
    •  Materials & Methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects precisely
    •  Results: Describe your results in a logical sequence
    •  Conclusions: Emphasise new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that are drawn from them
    •  Conflict of interest : Declaration of conflict of interest is mandatory
  9. Check spelling and grammar carefully. Direct reproduction from your electronically submitted abstract text means that any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific data will be reproduced as submitted. Any such error will be the responsibility of the participant, DERMACON 2018 scientific committee shall not take responsibility for the same.
  10. Failure to comply with the following requirements will lead to automatic rejection of the submission: Use generic names. The use of commercial drug names, brands and registered trademarks are strictly prohibited. Drugs should be referred to by the active substance or pharmacological designation. No mention of pharmaceutical company names should be included in the abstract.
  11. Acceptance of abstract will be according to a the criteria given. Each criteria is of equal importance.
    • Is the content interesting, informative, novel or important?
    • Are the methods valid, the results relevant and the conclusions justified by the data?
    • Are the data presented with clarity and with appropriate structure?
    • Is the text written according to proper English grammar and style?
  12. Registration for DERMACON 2018 is mandatory for submission of abstract.
  13. Abstract for award paper should be submitted through the link given below.
  14. Once you have successfully uploaded your abstract, you will get an acknowledgement through your registered email and phone number.
  15. The status of your abstract will be intimated within 10 days of evaluation deadline.
  16. The selected abstracts along with the name of the presenter will be uploaded in the website in the given space.

General Instructions for Award Paper

  1. The presentation can be powerpoint (preferably .pptx) using MS Office 2011, Windows 8 or as a Keynote upto version 7.0.5 or powerpoint 2011 version 14.7.1 as wide screen 16:9 aspect ratio.
  2. Each hall is equipped with a laptop and a projector. To assure high quality and near seamless transition between talk and speakers, a network based presentation system will be used.Usage of own laptops or other devices will not be permitted.
  3. All movie files should be brought as mp4/ avi / mov along with the presentation in a single folder.
  4. At the time of loading please verify and ensure that your videos are working.
  5. Award paper presentation should NOT exceed 7 minutes time. Only judges can ask questions to award paper presenters, no question from audience will be allowed in award  papers.
  6. There should NOT be more than 7-8 lines and each line should not have more than 8-10 words, in each slides of award paper presentation.
  7. Please note maximum number of slides for award paper must be 14 only.
  8. Use of unnecessary animations and transitions will be seen as distraction and can be marked negatively.
  9. If any special fonts are used please bring the presentation as a pack and go (if created on Windows) or save it as .pptx as the fonts will get embedded and bring your laptop to the preview room.
  10. All presenters should declare their conflicts of interest at the beginning of presentation.
  11. There will be a digital reverse timer at the hall and all participants are requested to stick to the allotted time. It should be noted that the screen will go blank after the stipulated time.
  12. All presenters are requested to load their presentations atleast 3 hours before their presentation time and get a receipt from the preview room.
  13. No changes will be allowed to be made to the presentations at the last hour.
  14. Only material submitted at the preview room will be allowed for presentation.
  15. Presentations will be accepted only from pen drive or CD/DVD and cannot be connected from mobiles or the internet.
  16. All presenters are expected to be in the scheduled hall 30 minutes before presentation. If the presenter is absent at their turn, no further chance will be given.
