Neil H. Shear

Neil H. Shear

Dr. Neil Shear is now the Head of Dermatology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Director of the University of Toronto Drug Safety Research Group. Dr Shear founded the Drug Safety Clinic at Sunnybrook in 1985 and was the founding chair of the Canadian Adverse Drug Reaction Advisory Committee (CADRAC) of Health Canada. Dr. Shear had conducted numerous clinical trials in dermatology for over 20 years, from first-in-human early pharmacology studies to large randomized trials of novel therapeutics. Dr. Shear’s main interest is in idiosyncratic drug reactions that involve the skin and have systemic effects. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and numerous chapters in major texts such as "Bolognia" and "Fitzpatrick". His clinical interests are diverse, from rosacea and camouflage makeup to autoimmune blistering diseases. Dr. Shear is a past president of the Canadian Society for Clinical Pharmacology and a recipient of the society’s Distinguished Service Award. He is a past-Chair of the Canadian Professors of Dermatology, current President of the Canadian Dermatology Foundation, and was elected a member of the prestigious American Dermatology Association. He was the founding editor of the Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and is currently on the editorial board of Drug Safety and American Journal of Dermatology.  Dr. Shear is the Vice-President of the Canadian Dermatology Association. 

Laxmi V. Nair

Laxmi V. Nair

Dr. Laxmi V. Nair is the Professor of Dermatology,  KMCT Medical College, Calicut, Kerala. She was formerly Professor and Head of Dermatology, Govt. Medical College, Calicut. She graduated from the GS Medical College Mumbai and secured her MD from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, training under the veteran Prof. L.K. Bhutani. Member of the American Academy of Dermatology since 1991, she has presented several papers at State, National and South Zone Conferences as also published papers in national and international journals. With firm belief in a humanistic approach towards patients and students coupled with vast experience in academics and passion for teaching, she has been instrumental in grooming many an able practitioner.  Her philanthropic activities are mainly centered around Suman  Rehabilitation Centre, at Calicut a daycare centre which trains mentally challenged women in self help skills.
